About Us

Brighter Birkenhead Primary Care Network is a group of 6 GP practices in and around the Birkenhead area of Wirral. We are working together to provide joined up services to give patients access to support to live happier, healthier lives.

We want to identify ways in which we can deliver better services to our patient population through joined up working.

The practices that form our Network are:

Devaney Medical Centre
Hamilton Medical Centre
Riverside Surgery
St Catherine’s Surgery
The Villa Medical Centre
Whetstone Medical Centre
We all agreed that high quality, consistent and joined up care is the solution to many of the pressures on today’s NHS, and specifically the pressures we face across Birkenhead.

As a result we have 6 General Practices working collaboratively as part of Brighter Birkenhead, covering approximately 48000 patients across our locality. This provides us with an opportunity to look at how we can deliver efficient and effective services that ensures our patients receive the right care, from the right care giver when they need it most.

This change isn’t just happening across Birkenhead, it’s a nationwide change. Every practice in England was required to join a Network by 15th May 2019 and the way in which we receive funding from NHS England is changing. Simply put, this means that NHS England are going to start funding practices for projects that they deliver by working together.
